Chef Bobby went straight over to the oven and fired it up and it went on but after less than a minute, it shut down. Our hearts sank since our projects for the week all depended upon a working oven. But, by now the girls had all come to the kitchen and we moved quickly into a place of chaos!

Toadd to the commotion and excitement in the air was the fact that Crossroads Church was in the auditorium and they had set up two large blow- up pools to baptize a bunch of the kids. There was also a team from Indiana. One of the women was an artist and while some were baptizing, some were singing and she was painting and progressive chalk picture. It was all quite beautiful and they baptized over 2. Because of the noise from the auditorium and the girls wanting to watch and the oven not working, we decided to forgo class for a while and dismissed the girls.

Fortunately for us, one of our team members is an aeronautical engineer and he jumped right in and before long the oven was working!!! After a couple of hours the baptisms were over and the noise died down so Yves and Bobby decided to call the girls back in and start them cooking! They all jumped in willingly to their first lesson which was making the dough and sauce for the pizzas we would be cooking on Monday. Along the way Cassie and I were able to meet up with one of our sponsor kids, Sylvester and also Mikayla's sponsor girl, Sheeneze.

They were both so cute and loved their backpacks. Both of these kids live in the local Joska area and walk well over a kilometer to and from school each day. Sylvester is only 9 and Sheneeze is only 6! We were so tired by the end of the day but really who can complain when you hear the schedule the girls at the school keep???

At the end of class I asked the girls to sing us a song so they immediately jumped right into a Swahili song. It sounded great and after it was over we asked what it was about. They told us that the song represented the colors of the Kenyan flag but also things having to do with the love of cooking!

After church we ate lunch and then headed over to the kitchen where the girls were anxiously awaiting us!
